Agencies across federal, state and local government are all under considerable pressure to cut down on their property cost and improve space utilisation. Their focus is to identify productivity gains, wellbeing improvement, and to drive collaboration.

However, transitioning to new innovative workspaces is not a task for the faint hearted. There needs to be plan and a transitional roadmap.

The first points of consideration are how to align workplace goals with the corresponding organisation’s, whether the employees’ interests and needs are at the centre of the decisions made, and how ROI can be guaranteed.

Then technology, security and culture change is needed to implement the change.

And finally, it is essential to measure the success of the new space. Are employees satisfied? Are they using the space correctly? Has productivity improved? Is it financially sustainable?

Four main drivers have been identified for organisations and teams who are making this transition:

  • Designing and implementing a workplace to deliver business improvement
  • Readying your department for the transition to a new space
  • Implementing cultural change management strategies and measuring success
  • Utilising technology as an enabler to support workplace innovation

These four areas are being discussed at the next Delivering Innovative Government Workplaces conference, taking place in Sydney, 27th and 28th November 2018. This conference will provide delegates with practical strategies to deliver a workplace as a strategic asset to drive cultural, workflow & technology innovation.
