Although technology is forecasted to play a greater role in the way government communicates with communities and the private sector, it’s often difficult to envision on a practical level what this would look like.

This video presents a case where the future of councils is not focused on technological advances, but integrating its capabilities with everyday situations.

The example is simple – a local using different smartphone apps to access various services to plan their day at a community event. The functionalities of the apps are also familiar for anyone who has used their phone for social media, research, scheduling or booking.

Harnessing these existing processes in the context of the public sector simply offers local governments and communities a clearer look at what is possible now or in the near future.
