Social Security Reform: Revisiting Henderson, Poverty and Basic Income

By The University of Melbourne

January 24, 2018

The 2018 Henderson Conference commemorates the 50th anniversary of Professor Ronald Henderson’s pivotal work on poverty in Australia.

How has our social security system changed since then?

More than 20 expert speakers will explore the key changes that have taken place since the 1970s Henderson Poverty Inquiry and how the social security system has responded.

It will also canvass different options for reform, including proposals for some kind of a basic income in Australia.

Held over two days on the 15th and 16th of February, the conference is a collaboration between The University of Melbourne, Melbourne Institute and the Brotherhood of St Laurence.
