Australia encompasses over 7.5 million square kilometres and boasts diverse biomes and terrains. Because of its vastness, providing reliable digital communications across Australia is challenging, especially due to the concentration of residents in major coastal cities. While mobile phone networks cover 99% of the population, over two-thirds of the landmass lacks cellular coverage, resulting in massive communication blackspots in regions inhabited by a quarter-million people that also host important infrastructure and vulnerable bushland.
