One of the main attractions of Kazakhstan is lake Balkhash. It is in the list of the largest lakes in the world occupies the thirteenth place. The lake is unique – it is separated by a Strait into two parts. On one side of the Strait the water is fresh, and on the other – salt. In Kazakh, Tatar and Altaic languages the name of the lake means “marsh”.
