Rudolph Lake is the largest lake in the wilderness
Beautiful Lake Rudolf is reminiscent of the seaside. Here is pretty long, sandy beaches, and the waves are very mobile and sensitive to the winds like the sea. There is almost never calm, and the fishermen do not remain idle, their boats permanently moored at the piers.
Lake Rudolph has another name – Turkana, according to the legend here was found the oldest skeleton Turchinskogo boy. This heavenly beauty of the lake and has a beautiful turquoise color, due to which the locals gave the lake the name of the Jade Sea. Lake Rudolf is in the North Eastern rift valley of Kenya, and there few rivers meet the sea: Cryo, OMO and Turkwel. Most of the lake belongs to Kenya, only the extreme Northern part of the “sticks” in the territory of Ethiopia. In General, the length of Lake Rudolf is 312 km, while its depth reaches 30 meters.
In ancient times the length of the lake was almost 400 kilometers from the OMO Valley to Valley Baringo. During this period, the lake became a river that flowed to the North-West and, thus, fell into the Nile.
Due to the fact that lake Turkana is in the wilderness, there are frequent storms and strong winds, they often turn into a terrible disaster. And it happens so often that for fans of extreme bad weather and the lake became almost the favorite place. Indeed, here the wind is so strong that the water in the lake heats and cools more slowly than land.
Though the Lake Rudolf is in the wilderness, where it seems that there is no life, but the view of the lake is so gorgeous that forgotten dead desert landscape. The climate in this area is highly arid, therefore, the main inhabitants here are the crocodiles and Scorpions and different species of birds and fish. Studies have shown that two million years ago there lived primitive people. Now there are a quarter of a million tribal peoples who grow crops, catch fish, busy with livestock.
There is one big problem, which can soon turn into ecological disaster. The fact that the Ethiopian government builds a dam upstream of the OMO river, which is the main source of water into Lake Rudolf. The probability that after the completion of this Grand construction of the lake will begin to dry, is very great. It turns out the fault of the person world is waiting for another environmental catastrophe.
