Navigating diverse risks: Public sector’s role in strengthening Australian resilience

Australia is facing a diverse set of risks to its stability and prosperity, including climate risk, changing geopolitical risks, cyber and technology innovation risks. The public sector plays critical roles in ensuring Australian resilience when confronted by those risks, yet how it does that is becoming harder; shorter policy making cycles, more complex service delivery arrangements, and greater public expectations all challenge its capacity and capability. Our panel will explore how the public sector contributes to Australia’s resilience, how doing that is becoming harder, and what a resilient public sector looks like and how it is structured to best respond.

Join our panel, moderated by The Mandarin Editor Peter Gearin, featuring:

  • Lisa Quest – Partner and Co-Head of the Government and Public Institutions Practice in Europe, Oliver Wyman
  • Nicholas Martin – Head of Strategic Risk Consulting at Marsh Australia Pacific
  • Andrew Metcalfe – Former Secretary and Australia’s Director of Biosecurity at Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
